Donation Made In Memory of Nick Martone
Glen Cove, NY, February 7, 2018 … At a recent Glen Cove Recreation Commission meeting, members of the LI-Kick social sports group and DJ Martone made a charitable donation to the City of Glen Cove’s Youth Financial Assistance Scholarship fund. The group donated $1,025 which was raised by friends and teammates in memory of DJ’s brother, Nick Martone, a former participant in LI-Kick’s Adult Co-Ed Soccer program. “This generous donation will help make Glen Cove junior sports programs accessible for young residents who may not be able afford to participate,” said Darcy Belyea, Director of Glen Cove’s Parks & Recreation Department. “Nick was a beloved member of LI-Kick and we miss him dearly,” said Sal Farruggia of LI-Kick. “Through this gift, Nick’s memory lives on by giving children an opportunity to participate in Glen Cove sports programs that were an important part of Nick’s life.” Applications and program information for the Youth Financial Assistance Scholarship can be obtained by calling Glen Cove Parks & Recreation office at 516-676-3766.
