Long Island Transit Announces a New Commuter Service to New York City
Long Island Transit is pleased to announce a new travel option for Long Island commuters. Beginning on January 5, 2009, Long Island Transit will offer express luxury motor coach service from Glen Cove, Manhasset and Roslyn directly to Midtown, Wall Street and the World Financial Center five days per week.
This new service option provides commuters with a safe and comfortable way to travel to popular destinations in the heart of New York’s financial and business centers, complete with Wi-Fi service.
Glen Cove Mayor Ralph V. Suozzi said, “This program is a great way to relieve both the cost and time of city travel for many Long Island commuters. Residents will be able to avoid crowded or delayed trains, but still take advantage of the benefits of mass transit in a clean and comfortable place to work or relax. The costs associated with train tickets, railroad parking and daily parking in New York City certainly add up. I encourage our daily commuters begin using this new service as an environmentally friendly option for traveling into the city.”
Long Island Transit is pleased to offer free parking for this service at its Long Island bus stops:
- St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 235 Glen Street, Glen Street, NY 11542 (east side of parking lot)
- Christopher Morley Park,Roslyn, New York(South side of parking lot)
Six departures will be offered each morning from Long Island bus stops to Wall Street and to Midtown. Six departures from Wall Street and midtown each evening will bring commuters home to Long Island. A one way fare will be $15.00 and a monthly commuter pass, good for round trip service, will be $249.00.
