City Recognizes First Responders

Mayor recognized police and fire caption Jan 2018

Glen Cove, NY, January 30, 2018 … When a Signal 10 house fire was called in for St. Andrew’s Lane, first responders from the Glen Cove Volunteer Fire Department (GCVFD) and Glen Cove Police Department (GCPD) were quickly on the scene. Their prompt response was a key factor for ensuring the safety of the home’s occupants. The City of Glen Cove recently recognized GCVFD Captain Peter Solomito Jr. and GCPD officers Matthew Gillespie and Katherine Theodorou who safely evacuated a resident from the St. Andrew’s Lane home. To acknowledge their brave actions, Mayor Timothy Tenke and the Glen Cove City Counsel presented Captain Solomito, Officer Gillespie and Officer Theodorou with certificates of recognition. “It is times like these that Glen Cove is fortunate to have our own Glen Cove Police and Volunteer Fire Departments with individuals who put their own lives on the line for the safety of others,” said Mayor Tenke. “Thank you for your dedication to our community.”
